CITM---China International Travel Mart (CITM), the largest travel exhibition in Asia has been successfully held at Shanghai New International Exhibition Center from 20th Nov to 23rd Nov 2008. CITM aimed at both travel trade and consumers, provided exhibitors the opportunity of multiple business talks and negotiations with international buyers, travel agents in China as well as promoting their destinations and travel products and services to large number of Chinese consumers too.
For the first time unprecedented number of African destinations and exhibitors took part in CITM 2008 with dedicated support from China Business Network and the World Travel Online. Delegation from Tanzania representing Tanzania Tourist Board, Tanzania National Parks, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority and also from the private sector such as Bobby Tours participated in the CITM 2008.
During CITM, Mr. Amant Charles Macha the Marketing Director of Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) gave an interview to the reporter of World Travel Online.
Tanzania is East Africa's largest country, and an immensely rewarding place to visit. Tanzania has the world-famous attractions; the plains of the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, snow¬capped Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain) and Zanzibar, with its idyllic palm-fringed beaches and historic Stone Town. Yet there's a whole lot more to Tanzania than these obvious highlights. Tanzania, truly, is a safari destination without peer. The statistics speak for themselves: an unparalleled one-quarter of its surface area has been set aside for conservation purposes, with the world-renowned Serengeti National Park and incomprehensibly vast Selous Game Reserve heading a rich mosaic of protected areas that collectively harbour an estimated 20 percent of Africa’s large mammal population.
Mr. Macha cited he was very pleased to be China and showed his appreciation to WTO for inviting him to this interview. He also told us that Tanzania was a stable, peaceful country with friendly people and got excellent relations with china for many years. He thought it was the time for TTB to promote tourism attractions in China.
