Africa, exotic attraction of the CITM 2008
CITM---China International Travel Mart (CITM), the largest travel exhibition in Asia has been successfully held at Shanghai New International Exhibition Center from 20th Nov to 23rd Nov 2008. CITM aimed at both travel trade and consumers, provided exhibitors the opportunity of multiple business talks and negotiations with international buyers, travel agents in China as well as promoting their destinations and travel products and services to large number of Chinese consumers too.

For the first time unprecedented number of African destinations and exhibitors took part in CITM 2008. With dedicated support from China Business Network and the World Travel Online, the African delegates received warm welcome and were invited to the Opening Ceremony & Welcoming Reception.

Some African delegates took picture at the CITM opening reception. Many more guest from Africa enjoyed the gala dinner.

More than 20 African countries, regions and international organizations such as Africa Travel Association showed their great interests on this travel mart. Many top officials from African countries led national delegations came to Shanghai such as Minister of Tourism of Guinea - Madame Bah Maimouna Diallo; Chairman of Zambia Tourism Board - Mr. Errol Hickey; Director of Marketing of Tanzania Tourist Board - Mr. A. C. Macha etc. Staff and officers of CBN and World Travel Online provided practical supports to the African delegations by setting up the exhibition stands; designing and printing Chinese brochures as well as providing interpreters and logistic back up for many of the African delegations. CBN also invited a large number of Chinese interested tour operators and made many relevant appointments for the African exhibitors.

Zambia Stand attracted Chinese visitors by featuring the impressive Victoria fall supported by public and private sector representatives.

Ms. Christiana Mumuni, the Marketing Executive of Starline in Ghana, met many interested Chinese tour operators with the assistance of CBN staff.

Ms. Hellen Kubuku, the Front Office and Marketing Manager of Mulungushi Village and colleagues in Zambia, was introducing their service to interested Chinese tour operators.
