On November 1, 2017, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of
Russia at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Xi Jinping welcomed Dmitry Medvedev's visit upon the successful conclusion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and stressed that as Russia is China's largest neighboring country and comprehensive strategic partner of coordination, China will not change its clear-cut goal and resolute determination to develop and deepen China-Russia relations. China is willing to work with Russia to expand all-dimensional cooperation across the board, intensify coordination and cooperation in international affairs and promote the building of a community with shared future for mankind. It is believed that China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination will seize new opportunities, take on a new look and achieve new accomplishments on the new threshold.
Xi Jinping pointed out China and Russia should give full play to the coordinating role of the regular meeting mechanism between prime ministers, enhance cooperation in energy, equipment manufacturing, agriculture and aerospace and other fields, continue to increase the content of technological innovation in bilateral cooperation and cultivate the digital economy, such as big data, the Internet of Things and smart cities, as new growth points. Both sides should well integrate the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), strive to promote the implementation of the Primorye international transport corridor and other projects, and cooperate in the development and utilization of the Arctic navigation channels to create a "Silk Road on the Ice". China and Russia have achieved fruitful results in education, tourism, media, and other people-to-people and cultural cooperation. As people-to-people and cultural exchanges have gained sound momentum along the Belt and Road, the two countries should continuously well manage the large-scale events of theme year between both countries and boost bilateral exchanges and cooperation at local level, so as to further consolidate the public opinion foundation for bilateral relations.
Dmitry Medvedev conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from President Vladimir Putin of Russia to President Xi Jinping and congratulated on the successful conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. Dmitry Medvedev expressed that the 19th CPC National Congress charts a blueprint for China's future development and carries great significance to both China and the world. Russia sincerely wishes continuous success for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and believes that Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination will certainly be developed at a more comprehensive and deeper level during this process. After President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Russia this July, the two countries have achieved more positive progress in cooperation in economy, energy, investment, innovation, people-to-people and cultural engagement, and the docking between the EEU and the "Belt and Road" construction, which Russia is highly gratified with. The Russian side is willing to further intensify exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields and strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs.
