On August 16, 2017 local time, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari of Nepal met in Katmandu with visiting Vice Premier Wang Yang.
Bidhya Devi Bhandari said that Nepal and China are good neighbors and real friends sharing weal and woe. The Nepalese government and people cherish the traditional friendship with China, and appreciate China for providing supports and assistance to Nepal's national development and post-disaster reconstruction. At present, the two countries enjoy close high-level exchanges with cooperation in various fields developing smoothly. Nepal supports the great initiative of the “Belt and Road” put forward by President Xi Jinping and will actively participate in the “Belt and Road” construction, so as to push forward Nepal-China friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation for constant development. Nepal staunchly upholds the one-China policy, and never allows any force to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal's territory.
Conveying President Xi Jinping’s sincere greetings to Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Wang Yang said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and bilateral relations have been a model of friendly relations between countries of different territorial sizes and political systems. China stands ready to make concerted efforts with Nepal in well implementing the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Nepal, sustain close high-level exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen and expand bilateral practical cooperation under the “Belt and Road” framework, reinforce connectivity and intensify coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues, in a bid to facilitate China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring everlasting friendship for sustained development.
On the same day, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba of Nepal met with Wang Yang, and expressed that the Nepalese side attaches great importance to its relations with China and expects to further enhance bilateral practical cooperation. Wang Yang said that practical cooperation between the two countries enjoys broad prospects, and both sides should constantly enlarge trade and investment scales, steadily press ahead project construction in transportation infrastructure, post-disaster reconstruction and other sectors, expand cooperation in agriculture and energy resource, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and cement cooperation in tourism, medical treatment, public health, human resource training and other fields.
