On April 7, 2017, President Xi Jinping met in Anchorage of Alaska, the US with Governor Bill Walker of Alaska.

Xi Jinping stressed that on the invitation of President Donald Trump, I travel to Mar-a-Lago in Florida for the meeting between the two heads of state of China and the US, with the purposes of charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations in the new era and expanding bilateral practical cooperation in various fields. I had a successful meeting with President Donald Trump, and reached a number of consensus, achieving positive outcomes.

Xi Jinping pointed out that regional cooperation is one of the most dynamic aspects in China-US relations. Alaska and China have had exchanges in history, Xi told Walker, and both Alaska and Anchorage are the participants and witnesses of the development of China-US relations. The Chinese and Alaskan industries are highly complementary. The substantial progress has been made in bilateral exchanges and cooperation and tremendous potential can be explored. Both sides should expand cooperation areas, deepen cooperation in energy, mineral resources, oil, gas, fishery, and other fields, strengthen cooperation in tourism, conduct exchanges in winter sports and promote friendship between the two peoples.

Bill Walker warmly welcomed President Xi Jinping's visit to Alaska. China is an important trading partner and the largest export market for its aquatic products of Alaska. With abundant natural resources, Alaska is willing to, together with China, intensify cooperation in such fields as agriculture, fishery, oil, gas, minerals, and tourism, as well as step up exchanges with the Chinese people.
