Chinese tourists' spending in Russia surpasses $1 bln in 2014
It's been reported that Chinese tourists' spending in Russia reached 1 billion U.S dollars last year.
According to statistics, the average travel expense for a single Chinese tourist during a trip is around 15 thousand yuan, about 2400 U.S dollars.

According to the China National Tourism Administration, Chinese people's travel expenses during the first half of the year rose by 14.5 percent, surpassing 260 billion U.S dollars.

Experts attribute the increase in spending to the rising middle class. The rising middle class in China are keen to purchase big brands while abroad rather than cheaper products.

Analysis has shown that shopping consists of 57.8 percent of Chinese tourists' travel budgets.

Meanwhile, the number of Chinese tourists travelling to Russia in 2014 increased to 410 thousand, up some 10 percent from the previous year.

Experts say that Russia has become attractive to Chinese tourists, not just because of its geographical location but also because of its economic situation since Russia's currency the Rouble has been devaluing.

Russia is taking measures to attract Chinese tourists with 15 events publicizing Russia's tourism products held here last year.
