Chinese tourists flock to Egypt

The Chinese cultural counsellor to Egypt, Shi Yuewen, has said that more Chinese tourists are expected to visit Egypt in the coming years as ties between the two countries continue to grow stronger, Egypt Today news outlet has reported.

During 2018 and 2019 half a million Chinese tourists visited Egypt.

The outlet reported Shi as saying that this is compared to just 300,000 in 2017, adding that Shi expects the figure to rise above the half a million mark by the end of 2019.

Reportedly Shi said that Egypt’s continuing efforts to enhance stability and eliminate terrorism, especially at heritage sites will encourage more Chinese to visit the country.

He also added in an article published by China Daily that there are also plans to overhaul services in hotels to offer tourists more competitive prices, the news outlet reported.
