On April 30th, 2019, Mr. Zhang Weixin, Chinese Consul-General met with Mr. Pennicook, CEO of Curaçao Tourism Board at the Consulate General in Willemstad. They exchanged in-depth views on strengthening tourism cooperation between China and the Dutch Caribbean.
Mr. Pennicook said that tourism is a pillar industry in the Dutch Caribbean. In recent years, the number of tourists and income has been increasing, but international tourists are mainly from Europe and the United States. With the rapid development of China's economy, a growing number of Chinese tourists are willing to travel abroad. He hoped to attract more Chinese tourists to Curacao and the Dutch Caribbean.
Mr. Zhang Weixin stressed that the Dutch Caribbean is a fascinating destination and has rich tourism resources. The number of Chinese outbound tourists continues to rise, and cooperation between the two sides can be lifted to a broader and higher level. However, Chinese tourists are still relatively unfamiliar with the region. Mr. Zhang Weixin not only expressed his hope that Curaçao strengthen the promotion for the region, but also provided constructive opinions on further strengthening the tourism cooperation between the two sides.
