Four countries offer friendlier visa policies for Chinese tourists
Chinese travelers will soon have less restrictions when traveling abroad. Below are the relaxed visa policies for tourists looking to travel to Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Ukraine
Singapore offers a 96-hour visa-free transit facility (VFTF)
Since January 28, 2019, Singapore has granted a 96-hour visa-free transit facility for Chinese citizens entering Singapore. Passengers in transit can apply for VFTF at check-in counter without charge. The requirements are:
1. Must have a valid onward air/ferry/cruise ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours;
2.  Must have a valid visa issued by any of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States of America;
3. The passport must be valid for more than six months
This policy is also applicable to Chinese citizens who meet the above requirements to transfer from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong and Macao via Singapore.
Thailand launches new e-visa on arrival system
Thailand's Immigration Bureau launched a new e-visa on arrival system on February 14, for foreign tourists from 20 countries, including China, India, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, among others.
Eligible travelers can apply online for the e-visa and upload the necessary documents as well as pay fees with Mastercard, Visa, Union Pay, Wechat Pay or Alipay.
Then, travelers, if processed correctly, would receive a pre-approved code which they can print out for reference. Travelers will receive their pre-departure travel authorization online within three days and they can pay an additional fee to get one within 24 hours.
Japan simplified visa application
Since January 1, 2019, Japan has further simplified the visa application for Chinese tourists.
1. Undergraduate students, graduate students and former students within three years of graduation may apply for a tourist visa without asset qualifications, but provide certificates of academic qualifications.
2. In the past three years, Chinese tourists who have traveled to Japan twice or more on their personal travel visas have simplified the procedures for applying for multiple round-trip visas.
Ukraine issued e-visa to China
An electronic visa process for Chinese citizens is now available for travel to Ukraine. Here are the details:
1. All e-visa applications are processed within nine business days.
2. E-visas are issued as single entry visas valid for up to 30 days
3. All applicants should submit their printed e-visas (along with their valid travel documents) to Ukraine's State Border Guard Service officers when entering Ukraine.
