About 1.12 million Chinese tourists visited Cambodia's famed Angkor Archeological Park in 2018, an increase of 23 percent from 2017, said a report on Friday.

China is the biggest source of foreign tourists to the Angkor, accounting for 43 percent of the international tourists to the ancient park last year, said the state-owned Angkor Enterprise's report.

South Korea and the United States are the second and third largest sources of visitors to the park, it said, adding that some 184,395 South Koreans visited the park last year, down 25 percent, as 166,974 Americans spent their holidays there, up 7 percent.

According to the report, a total of 2.59 million international tourists from 194 countries and regions visited the Angkor last year, up 5 percent, and the kingdom earned 116 million U.S. dollars from selling tickets to those tourists last year, up 8 percent.

Located in Cambodia's northwestern Siem Reap province, the Angkor, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian country.
