Jamaica’s Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, along with other ministers of state will be speaking at various events around the island nation this Friday, March 16, 2018, in support of tourism activities.

Jamaica Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and Jamaica Minister without Portfolio Ministry of Economic Growth, Hon. Dr. Horace Changare, are expected to deliver remarks on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the groundbreaking exercise for the US$5m project to develop the Hamden Wharf located at Falmouth Cruise Pier Terminal. The project, which is being funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund in conjunction with the Port Authority of Jamaica, is expected to be completed in two years. It will also include the establishment of an artisan village, being developed by the Tourism Product Development Company, which will accommodate 30 artisans’ shops.
JCTI Pilot Project
Jamaica Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and Jamaica Minister of State Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Hon. Floyd Green, are expected to deliver remarks on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 1:30 pm at a luncheon at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James reviewing the Pilot project of the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI). The JCTI was born out of Vision 2030’s Tourism Sector Development Plan, which calls for the development of a training institution focused on developing a management cadre with the skills, knowledge and motivation required by tourism entities. It will facilitate the certification and licensure of Jamaicans working in tourism as well as facilitate innovation in tourism.
Heinz Simonitsch School’s Caribbean Expo
Jamaica Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, is expected to deliver remarks at the opening of the Heinz Simonitsch School’s Caribbean Expo on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Rose Hall in the Heinz Simonitsch School Main Auditorium in Montego Bay, St. James. The Heinz Simonitsch School, which is located in a corner of the grounds of the Half Moon Hotel, was started in 1997 by Mrs. Elisabeth Simonitsch, wife of the then Managing Director of Half Moon, Mr. Heinz Simonitsch, in two rooms over the shops in the Half Moon Shopping Village, with eight students. The school at this time has 240 pupils from Kindergarten 1 to Senior 5.
