FITUR and SEGITTUR are calling the third edition of the competition for tourism apps on mobile devices, “The AppTourism Awards”.
FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, in collaboration with SEGITTUR, the State Corporation for Innovation Management and Tourism Technologies, is calling the third edition of the competition for tourism apps on mobile devices, “The AppTourism Awards”, in recognition of the importance that apps have acquired for tourists when organising their trips. The winners will be announced on 21 January 2016 within the FITUR event.
As at the last edition, when 148 projects were entered, the competition’s aim is to recognise the best applications, both national and international, that in one way or another help to improve the tourist experience in one of the trip’s phases.
On this occasion a new award category has been included: best app for smartwatch (national and international) given the proliferation of these smart watches among 2.0 tourists. Another recognition will go to best national tourism app, divided into Destination Guide, Sport, Nature and Adventure Tourism, Sun and Sand, Cultural, Wine and Gastronomy Tourism and Tourist Services, and to the best international tourism app in the sections of Destination Guide and Tourist Services.
The jury of “The AppTourism Awards” competition will comprise expert professionals from the sectors of technology, tourism, online marketing and communication. For its part, the prize involves the recognition by SEGITTUR, an organisation attached to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, and FITUR, one of the world’s most important tourism trade shows, of the best tourism apps in their different categories. Furthermore, in the case of national apps, the winners will also be included in the “Spain Collection” app featuring the best tourism apps for Spain, and will also be present in the repository of apps of the official Spanish tourism portal .
