Capital Airlines plans to open its first European route linking Beijing, Hangzhou in Zhejiang province and Copenhagen, the capital and largest city of Denmark, in September, said the company's CEO.
An Airbus A330, the first wide-body jetliner of the Beijing-based carrier, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines Group, arrived in Beijing on Saturday morning.
"We plan to use the new aircraft to operate the flight between the three cities," said Xu Xin, CEO of Capital Airlines. "My company focuses on tourism market so we must open more overseas routes, which requires us to maintain a fleet of large jetliners."
In the next five years, Capital Airlines will purchase at least 30 wide-body jetliners to open more international routes between Chinese cities and major overseas tourist destinations, he added.
Established in 2010, the company runs more than 200 domestic and international flights. All of its aircraft are made by the European aviation giant Airbus.
