Melodies from the Heart by China Conservatory Orchestra
In support of 2015 UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange, China Conservatory Orchestra will be performing during Edinburgh Festival on the 19th August at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) followed by a special performance in Central Hall Westminster in London on Saturday the 22nd August.

The Orchestra will be conducted by the world renowned Conductor and Composer Mr. Kuan Naichung with leading music artists such as Ms Song Fei (regarded as the Queen of Chinese Erhu), Mr. Zhang Weiliang (the King of Dizi -Chinese Flute),  Mr. Zhang Zunlian (a famous Jinghu Player), and over 40 other awards winning players with great talents and abundant skills of various traditional Chinese instruments.

“We aim to bring a great surprise to the British audience with the melodious music from traditional Chinese instruments such as Erhu, Sona, Pipa and many more traditional Chinese instruments than most people may know. During the 2 hour performance audience will be treated with real feast of Chinese traditional music with various themes from “A Festival in a Village” to “the Flying Song—A-Xi Dancing Under the Moon” says Mr Kuan, the Conductor of China Conservatory Orchestra.

Invited VIP guests include government officials and celebrities like the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport; Minister for Culture; Major of London; Chinese ambassador to the UK, Chinese Minister Counselor for culture, and Consul General of China in Edinburgh as well as the Director of Music of Royal College of Scotland, Dr Gordon Munro and the Head of Scottish Music Programme, Joshua Dickson etc.

In recent years, China Conservatory Orchestra performed caused storms around the world performing in prestigious venues such as Sydney Opera House, Golden Concert Hall in Vienna, and Cairo Opera House in Egypt, with footprints left all over the world and every corners of China. 
 

 
China Conservatory
China Conservatory is the alma mater of China's first lady Ms. Peng Liyuan who was one of the best-loved Chinese music star before taking the full time role of the First Lady. Founded in 1964, the China Conservatory Orchestra represents the highest-level performance of Chinese traditional music. This is one of China's best and most vibrant national orchestras. In terms of artistic style, the Orchestra masters both Chinese traditional music and folk music. Performing these ancient and mysterious oriental rhythms, the Orchestra is equipped with an innovative spirit and explores diversity and develops different musical styles.

Sino-Overseas Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation (SOECEF) is a non-profit organisation set up to promote and facilitate education and cultural exchange between China and other parts of the world.
