Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that China will strengthen the bilateral relations between China and France when met with French Ambassador to China Sylvie Bermann.
On August 12, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the outgoing French Ambassador to China Sylvie Bermann.
Wang Yi appreciated Bermann's contribution to pushing forward the development of China-
France relations during her term and expressed that, characterized by comprehensiveness, strategy and leadership, China-France relations have long been at the forefront of China-West relations. The 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries is of great significance to China-France relations, China-EU relations as well as China-West relations. At present, China-France relations are facing new opportunities for development. The two sides should implement well the consensus reached by the two heads of state when President Xi Jinping visited France this March and promote bilateral relations to another new level.
Bermann appreciated the support and assistance provided by the Chinese side during her term and expressed that the current France-China relations enjoy good development and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship receives enthusiastic response. The French side stands ready to continuously join efforts with the Chinese side to constantly promote the bilateral relations for fruitful results.
