Three new figures of Michael Jackson at Madame Tussauds London were given a sneak peak of the figures before they take up residence in the attraction to mark the fourth anniversary of the superstar’s death.
On Monday 24th June, three stars of the international smash hit show, Thriller Live!, unveiled Madame Tussauds’ newest wax figures - three stunning Michael Jacksons - on stage at the Lyric Theatre. David Jordan, Britt Quentin and ten year old Eshun Gopal, were given a sneak peak of the figures before they take up residence in the attraction to mark the fourth anniversary of the superstar’s death.
The figures, which portray Jackson as a young boy in his Jackson 5 days, a more mature King of Pop in his Dangerous era and in his later ‘This is It’ incarnation will remain united in the attraction for three months. Fans can also see unique archive materials from his long relationship with Madame Tussauds.
David, Britt and Eshun who perform Jackson’s iconic songs and his famous moves in the show were suitably impressed by the likeness. “The figures look so lifelike, it was fantastic to be able to dance with them on stage with me – I’m really jealous of young Michael’s yellow outfit!” commented ten-year-old Eshun, who has been in the production for seven months. Britt observed, “I think the facial detail is absolutely stunning – it’s like actually looking at Michael, the skintone is captured perfectly”. David shared in Eshun and Britt’s enthusiasm, adding “I think it’s great that fans are able to be face-to-face with Michael – these figures look exactly as he did, so it feels like you’re actually meeting him. I’m honoured they’re here on our stage – at the end of the day, we put the show on for him!”
The three figures form a touring attraction, which will visit Madame Tussauds locations around the world, and fans are already eager to visit them in
London.
“We usually have just one figure of Michael Jackson in the attraction and it is one of the most photographed and hugged in the entire attraction,” explains Fenner. She continued: “Now these three figures are about to be brought together in London for the first time and we’ve had huge interest. We’ve also prompted a lot of debate on social media about his best era – with Thriller winning in the outfit stakes, Billie Jean being named his best song and Bad topping the album chart! The fact is he had so many different looks and was so inventive, it is a huge area for debate and personal preference, but we’re happy we’ve got a fitting tribute to his career and we’re sure his fans will agree.”
After the exclusive sneak preview the figures will take their place in the world famous attraction ready to meet fans from Tuesday June 25 until the end of September, while the performers will take to the stage tonight to perform in the spectacular Thriller Live!, the Lyric's longest running production in its 125th year history, this year celebrating its fifth year in the West End.
