2012 Colombia Tourism Promotion has successfully held in Beijing and Shanghai,aiming to promote Colombia various tourism resources.
Led by the Minister of the Colombian Trade, Proexport Colombia held successfully their tourism promotion on May 9th in Beijing and May 11th in Shanghai. Co-exhibited with 10 local incoming providers with great ambition for Chinese tourism market, the event introduced the wonderful tourism resources and products, which attracted over 60 Chinese tour operators. Mr. Sergio Diaz-Granado Guida, Minister of The Colombian Trade, Industry and Tourism delivered a speech to all participants:" We hope to be the most favorite tourist destination in South America for Chinese visitors, and 45 million Colombians will always welcome the Chinese tourists."

CBN Travel & MICE and World Travel Online (WTO),served as the co-organizer, achieved great success in planning and execution for the Colombia tourism promotion. To prepare the tour operators from Colombia better Dr. Wu, the COO of China Business Network provided the visiting delegation with practical training about the knowledge and understanding of the unique characteristics of the outbound travel from China and how to reach the outbound travel trade in the most cost effective way as well as how to cater for Chinese visitors.

Dr. Oscar Rueda, Vice Minister of the Colombian Trade, Industry and Tourism made a specific introduction of the tourism resources in Colombia, which covered the coastal areas, highlands and coffee producing areas etc. Dr. Oscar Rueda also expressed full expectations of the Chinese market: "China has become the most important outbound tourists' source country in the world. For Chinese tourists, Colombia currently is the eighth destination in South America. Compared with Brazil and Argentina, there are not as many as Chinese tourists in Colombia, but we are confident that there will be more and more Chinese visitors in our country after the adjustment of our inbound travel structure. "

The tourism promotion was fully supported by the embassy of Colombia. The Commercial Counselor of Colombian Embassy, Mr. Alejandro Ossa Cárdenas also attended and commended: "Colombia has been an important economic partner of China. With Chinese investment increasing sharply in Colombia, we also hope to see more Chinese tourists coming to visit Colombia."

Columbia has been a quite fresh destination for Chinese tour operators as they are eagerly looking for a number of new resources to meet kinds of requirements from Chinese visitors. The B2B workshop made another climax of the event. Many Chinese tour operators seized the opportunity to learn more about the tourism resources and products, so that to find and develop good partnerships with the exhibitors. Ms. Zhang Huiling, the Vice General Manger of American Department from CYTS expressed, " With the consecutive tourism promotions, we can see that South American countries have attached great importance to Chinese tourism market. Columbia, the important part of South America, is expected to become the most popular tourism destination. This event is helpful for us to have more knowledge of Columbia and even to develop our business."
