China and Russia hope that the two sides would strengthen their relations in trade, tourism, construction, building materials and other fields.
Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan met here Friday with Governor Dmitry Mezentsev of the Irkutsk region in Russia's Siberia to discuss cooperation between their two countries, after attending the seventh round of the China-Russia energy negotiators' meeting.
The Irkutsk region is very close to China and has served as an important transport hub between Beijing and Moscow. China appreciates the effort made by the Irkutsk region to boost bilateral cooperation on trade and investment, which requires mutual understanding and mutual confidence on the part of both sides.
Wand mentioned that China and Russia will hold tourism years in each other's countries in the next two years. The Irkutsk region with the unique Baikal Lake will play a significant role in the event.
Mezentsev gave Wang a warm welcome and expressed the willingness to further expand cooperation with China. He invited China to attend the seventh International Baikal Economic Forum and to participate in the building of the Irkutsk special economic zone.
He also expressed the hope that the two sides would strengthen their relations in trade, tourism, construction, building materials and other fields.
