On December 29, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti.
Yang said since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, bilateral relations have been developing smoothly. Both sides have maintained frequent friendly exchanges, enhanced their political trust and conducted fruitful pragmatic cooperation. They have also kept sound coordination in international affairs. Yang thanked for Djibouti's adherence to the one-China policy and firm support to China on issues concerning its core interests. China is ready to work with Djibouti to further enhance friendly exchange and cooperation in all areas so as to push bilateral ties for greater development.
Youssouf expressed appreciation for China's long-term assistance to his country without attaching any political conditions. The Fourth Ministerial Conference of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum (FOCAC) not long ago set up a sound cooperative framework for the development of China-Djibouti, China-Africa relations. Djibouti is ready to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China and jointly implement the outcome at the conference. Youssouf reaffirmed the government of Djibouti will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.
