Chinese Tourism Delegation Opens Expo Tour Promotion in the US

On the night of 19 October local time, as the prelude to the promotion campaign in the US for Expo Shanghai, the China Tourism Night for Promoting Expo 2010 was held in New York by a Chinese tourism delegation headed by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) Vice Chairman Du Jiang. The delegation consisted of tourism officials and practitioners from Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. About 500 people attended the event, including representatives from government departments of New York, tourism industry, airline companies, media, industry and commerce field, international organizations and local Chinese community. Du Jiang, Vice Chairman of CNTA, Ambassador Peng Keyu, in his capacity as Chinese Consul-General to New York, and George Fertitta, Chief of New York Tourism Bureau attended and addressed the event.

The delegation has elaborately prepared some Expo tour routes and tourism products that would be suitable for the American market. And an effective promotion campaign was launched by means of beautifully made pictures, lively videos, detailed materials and business talks.

Additional News: On the morning of 20 October local time, CNTA Vice Chairman Du Jiang met with the representatives of major local tourism wholesalers of China tours. Du Jiang first thanked them for their longstanding support for China’s tourism industry, and then gave an introduction which focused on China’s key measures for tackling the financial crisis and the positive impact of those measures. After that, he talked about the tourism issues related to the Expo 2010 Shanghai. Du Jiang also listened to their advices and suggestions on China’s tourism image promotion, tourism industry monitoring and administration and measures for combating the financial crisis. Also, he said CNTA lays great emphasis on Sino-US tourism exchange and cooperation and wishes to join hands with US tourism industry to tide over the difficulties and find a win-win solution.
