China and Nigeria Hold the First Strategic Dialogue in Beijing
On September 14, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and visiting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria Joe Keshi co-chaired the first China-Nigeria strategic dialogue in the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Both sides exchanged views on China-Nigeria relations, the African situation and China-Africa ties, the international situation and relevant hotspot issues in a candid and in-depth manner and reached broad consensus. They agreed that China and Nigeria, both big developing countries, should further build up political trust, push forward pragmatic cooperation and continuously enhance the level of China-Nigeria strategic partnership. Both sides expressed willingness to enhance coordination and cooperation in African and international affairs so as to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations.
