China, Mexico Hold First Strategic Dialogue in Mexico City
On August 17, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Maria de Lourdes Aranda Bezaury co-chaired the first strategic dialogue between the two countries in Mexico City.
Both sides introduced the development strategies and foreign policies of their respective countries and exchanged in-depth views on bilateral ties and major international issues of common concern, with broad consensus reached between both sides. They agreed that to enhance strategic dialogue between China and Mexico, as big developing countries, is conducive to building strategic mutual trust, deepening bilateral strategic partnership and promoting South-South cooperation and South-North dialogue, and it will also make positive contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the great success of the first China-Mexico strategic dialogue, pledging to further enhance this mechanism and push for comprehensive, in-depth development of bilateral strategic partnership.
On the same day, the vice foreign ministers of the two countries also held political consultations between the two foreign ministries, exchanging views on furthering bilateral cooperation in all areas and other issues.
