The Mexico Tourism Board has opened a China Representative Office in Beijing in order to attract more inbound Chinese tourists.
In January 2005, Mexico signed a memorandum of understanding with China on tourism and decided then to start planning the opening of an office in China.
The statistics from the Mexico Immigration Department show that Mexico had received 10,569 Chinese tourists in 2005, and in the first half year of 2006, they had received 2413 more Chinese tourists comparing with the same period of 2005. The Mexico Tourism Board expects to receive 35,000 Chinese tourists annually by 2009.
The office in Beijing is the 18th for the Mexico Tourism Board's overseas offices.
