In honour of the Chinese New Year this January 29th, Galeries Lafayette is celebrating the year of the dog! From January 26th until February 11th 2006, the famous store on Haussmann Boulevard will don the symbolic red and gold colours of this annual festivity.

A VIP greeting
Right from the store entrance at « Porte Trinit¨¦ » on rue de la Chauss¨¦e d¡¯Antin, clients can stop to gaze at thestore windows and façades decorated for the occasion, with its doors and walls adorned in the symbol of 2006, the dog, and happy New Year greetings in traditional Chinese text.
On the ceiling, happiness insignias « FU » will have clients looking up and down just as traditional Chinese custom prevails¡
The International area has recently been completely renovated, now receiving foreign clientele in a much largerspace, making the processing for tourist tax refunds much more comfortable. In the coming months this will soon be joined by a brand new VIP space.
After a personalized greeting in either Mandarin or Cantonese, the client can follow the red floor decals on the ground floor right up to the store¡¯s prestigious stained glass dome.
Salespeople¡¯s name tags and the store¡¯s plasma screens will also communicate Chinese messages of happiness,prosperity and longevity on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
Exclusive dealsWithin the store during this period, several brands will be celebrating the Chinese New Year with special prices for their Chinese clientele, particularly in the perfume, handbag, accessory, jewellery and watch departments.

For example, Givenchy is offering a signature black vanity bag for all purchases over €65 in the perfume department. Lancel is proposing a scarf or necktie for the purchase of accessories or handbags valued over €200. In the jewellery and watch departments, the Dinh Van and Fred boutiques are offering a candle for all purchases over €500.
Several other prestigious brands will also have exclusive offers such as Chanel, Guerlain, Lancôme, Sisley, Longchamp, Boucheron, Cartier, Montblanc, Tiffany & Co¡
In-Store SpecialsIn addition to the special in-store offers, the Chinese ¡°Sichuan¡± restaurant situated on the 6th floor of the main store will be proposing special menus during this entire event(menus at €15).
Galeries Lafayette will be displaying a selection of thirty photographs from Chinese artist Guo Jianshe in the display windows along rue de la Chauss¨¦e d¡¯Antin. Taken in different regions of China during the Chinese New Year, these photographs are part of the « Red China », exhibition presented by the « The Silk Road » association in Paris.
