China and Belarus need to intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen cooperation in such areas as education, culture and tourism, and facilitate the construction of bilateral cultural centers.

On May 16, 2017, President Xi Jinping met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, who was in China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF).
 
Xi Jinping pointed out that both countries established comprehensive strategic partnership featuring mutual trust and win-win cooperation in last September, opening up a new period of the development of China-Belarus relations. Both sides firmly support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and major concerns. Bilateral practical cooperation represents a sound situation with all-round and multilevel development. Both countries maintain close coordination in international and regional issues.
 
Xi Jinping stressed that China regards Belarus as an important cooperation partner for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road". The Chinese side is willing to deeply explore cooperation potential with Belarus to achieve win-win development. Both sides should enhance policy coordination and the docking of development strategies, cultivate new growth point for cooperation, deepen economic, trade and investment cooperation, promote bilateral trade toward a balanced and sustained development, boost the building of China-Belarus industrial park and give play to the role of local cooperation as new engine. Both countries need to intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen cooperation in such areas as education, culture and tourism, and facilitate the construction of bilateral cultural centers.
 
Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the great success of the BRF. President Xi Jinping's crucial speech has acclaimed great attention from the international community. Belarus and China are sincere partners. Both countries have increasingly deepened mutual trust and cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago. Belarus is willing to expand exchanges and cooperation with China in such areas as economy, trade, investment, production capacity, science, technology, people-to-people and cultural engagement, sports and tourism, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to actively participate in the construction of major projects in Belarus including Belarus-China industrial park.
 
After the meeting, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in such areas as the "Belt and Road" construction, economic and technical cooperation.
 
Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the above activities.
